Guwahati: The Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, Assam Pradesh, has called for the immediate cancellation of the CBSE affiliation of Carmel School in Anderijuli, Rani, Kamrup district, Assam, following reports that students were served beef. Amitabh Sharma, President of Ekam Sanatan Bharat Dal, stated that this incident deeply hurt the sentiments of Sanatan Dharma followers.
In response, the school has expelled the students involved, claiming that the incident occurred without the knowledge of staff or the principal. It reportedly happened when students shared tiffins on September 19, 2024. The school has since banned non-vegetarian food on campus to respect the diverse faiths of the school community.
The principal expressed regret and assured parents that such incidents will not be repeated.
