Guwahati: Senior journalist Atanu Bhuyan has criticized the Assam Government’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR). He said that the department is planning to buy TV slots for an hour-long discussion on a government scheme.

The DIPR is looking to partner with news channels. Bhuyan tweeted ( now ‘x’) that this is not the right way to handle journalism, saying, “Journalism shouldn’t be this way. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma should consider this.”
Bhuyan’s tweet raises concerns about the ethical impact of these transactions and urges a rethink to maintain journalistic integrity.
