Guwahati : A snatching incident occurred in Manpara, Guwahati, on October 4, 2023, at around 3 PM. Two individuals forcibly took a bag containing Rs 5 lakhs in cash from the victim, Mr. Narendra Kr Bansali, who had just withdrawn the money from the HDFC Fancy Bazar Branch.

Upon investigation, it was observed that two suspects had been monitoring the bank, specifically looking for customers withdrawing substantial sums of cash. Once they singled out their target, they alerted their associates waiting outside, who executed the snatching.
Based on gathered information, the four accused were identified as follows:
- Bijendra Gowala
- Monu Ray
- Biren
- Tiklu
All of them hail from Jhanjhipara, Fatapukhur, PS Raiganj, Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.
A team led by the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Fatasil Ambari conducted raids at their residences. Although the suspects managed to evade capture, the stolen amount of Rs 5 lakhs was recovered from Bijendra Gowala’s house.
Authorities are actively pursuing the culprits, and the recovered money will be returned to the victim through due legal procedures.
