Guwahati: The Guwahati Open PWR 200, organised by the Assam Pickleball Association (APA) under the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), concluded successfully at Pickle Pals, VIP Road, Pathar Quarry, Narengi.
The two-day national ranking tournament saw participation from 130 players from across India. A total of 210 matches were played across 22 events during the championship.
As an officially sanctioned National Ranking and Pickleball World Rankings (PWR) event, the tournament offered players an opportunity to earn valuable ranking points at both national and international levels.
Players from Nagaland, West Bengal, Delhi, and different districts of Assam took part in the competition. Events were held in junior, open, and masters categories for boys, girls, men, women, and senior players.
A total prize money of ₹80,000 was awarded in the Men’s Open Singles and Doubles categories, along with the 30+ and 40+ Men’s Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events.
The tournament witnessed a high level of competition and highlighted the growing popularity of pickleball in Assam and the Northeast. The participation of both experienced and emerging players reflected the rapid development of the sport in the region.
Officials of the Assam Pickleball Association expressed satisfaction over the successful conduct of the event and said such tournaments help in identifying and developing talent while promoting Assam as a destination for national-level pickleball competitions.
The association thanked all players, referees, technical officials, volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and venue partner Pickle Pals for contributing to the success of the championship.
With strong participation and national ranking significance, the Guwahati Open PWR 200 has further strengthened Assam’s position as one of the fastest-growing centres for pickleball in India.
