Justice Process Moves Forward with Central Approval

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that late singer Zubeen Garg was forced to drink alcohol as part of a bigger conspiracy to loot his wealth and property. The Chief Minister made this statement on Zubeen’s first birthday after his death.

Sarma said Zubeen never liked alcohol and never came to meet him after drinking. “Alcohol was not Zubeen’s identity. His identity was music, helping poor people, and speaking against injustice. He was made to drink only when someone wanted to use him,” the Chief Minister said.

He also dismissed the claim circulating on social media that people should pay tribute to Zubeen with alcohol. “This is totally false. Zubeen never had any link with alcohol,” Sarma added.

CM’s Message to Youth

The Chief Minister urged young people to keep Zubeen’s spirit alive by doing good work.
“Keep Zubeen alive through service to the poor. Keep him alive through blood donation, music, and creativity,” he said.

Justice for Zubeen: Major Legal Step Forward

In a positive development, Assam Police received the required permission from the Central Government to move ahead with the case related to Zubeen’s death in Singapore.

As per Section 208 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNSS), if a crime happens outside India, the court can take up the case only after the Central Government gives approval. Union Home Minister Amit Shah granted this permission today.

Sarma said this approval will now help Assam Police file the charge sheet and move legally and strongly in the case. The government aims to submit the charge sheet by December 10.

“Today, on Zubeen’s 53rd birth anniversary, we move one step closer to justice for him,” the Chief Minister said.
