Guwahati: A woman was electrocuted after stepping on an open electric wire near the under-construction Dighali Pukhuri–Noonmati flyover on April 22. The incident happened after heavy rain in the early morning hours.
She was immediately taken to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for urgent treatment.
Construction work for the Noonmati–Dighali Pukhuri flyover has been causing trouble for commuters since it began. Locals say that during rainy days, the roads become muddy and waterlogged, making it difficult and unsafe for travel.
On April 22, after overnight rain, roads in the Chandmari area were completely blocked. People believe this poor condition led to the tragic incident.
Residents are now urging the authorities to speed up the work and take better safety measures so that the public doesn’t have to face such dangers and problems.
