The Assam government, led by Himanta Biswa Sarma, denied permission for the Yatra to use crucial city roads, citing concerns about traffic disruptions on a working day. Instead, the administration directed the rally to take the national highway route towards lower Assam.
Rahul Gandhi, addressing the situation, said, “We will not break the law. Don’t think we are weak; it’s the power of Congress workers.” He highlighted perceived suppression, citing the cancellation of his student interaction in Meghalaya.
