Guwahati: A speeding Swift car hit a scooter in Guwahati’s Lalmati area, killing a senior police officer on the spot. The accident happened when Birinchi Kumar Das, Officer-in-Charge of Ghograpar Police Station in Nalbari, was crossing the national highway.
Eyewitnesses said the car was moving at high speed, hit a road divider, and then crashed into Das’s scooter. The impact was severe, leaving the scooter completely damaged. Das, who was on a month-long leave, died immediately.
Police have started an investigation to track down the suspect.
