Guwahati: Assam’s Riyan Parag is set to create history as he takes over Rajasthan Royals’ captaincy for the first three matches of IPL 2025. This makes him the first Assamese player to lead an IPL team, a proud moment for the entire Northeast.
Riyan will captain Rajasthan Royals in their opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23, followed by home games against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 26 and Chennai Super Kings on March 30 at the ACA Stadium, Guwahati.
With Sanju Samson recovering and unable to field or keep wickets, Rajasthan Royals have entrusted Riyan Parag with the leadership. His impressive performances for Assam in domestic cricket and his strategic mindset have earned him this role.
