Prohibitory Orders Enforced Around Raj Bhawan, Guwahati

Guwahati: The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Central Police District, Guwahati, Amitabh Basumatary, has issued prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, to safeguard the high-security zone around Raj Bhawan.

The order restricts gatherings of more than five people, protests, rallies, or demonstrations within a one-kilometer radius of Raj Bhawan without prior approval. Unauthorized movement of vehicles or individuals, use of loudspeakers, fireworks, or other noise-producing instruments, and disruptive construction activities are also prohibited in the area.

These measures aim to ensure security and prevent disturbances in the vicinity of Raj Bhawan, the official residence of the Governor of Assam. The order is effective immediately and will remain in force for two months or until further notice. Violators will face legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
