Guwahati: Peerless Hospital Guwahati has launched an Advanced Liver and Gastrointestinal (GI) Super-Speciality Clinic to provide specialised consultation and treatment for complex liver, pancreatic, biliary and gastrointestinal diseases in Assam and the Northeast.
The clinic will offer treatment support for liver disorders, liver cancer, gallbladder cancer, pancreatic diseases, bile duct cancer, stomach and oesophageal cancer, colorectal cancer and other complex gastrointestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) conditions. It will also provide advanced GI and HPB surgical evaluation, including minimally invasive surgery.
The initiative aims to reduce the need for patients from Assam and the Northeast to travel outside the state for specialised liver and GI treatment.
The clinic will be led by Sudeep Banerjee, Senior Consultant – Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary and Gastrointestinal Surgery and Liver Transplant at Peerless Hospital Kolkata.
Dr Banerjee has experience in advanced HPB surgery, liver transplantation and robotic GI procedures. He has performed more than 3,000 GI surgeries and over 2,000 HPB and pancreatic surgeries.
The launch programme was held at Peerless Hospital Guwahati on May 25 in the presence of DP Sammadar, Gautam Kumar Das and Pranab Barua.
Speaking on the occasion, Gautam Kumar Das said the clinic will help patients receive comprehensive and cost-effective treatment in Guwahati without travelling outside Assam.
Dr Sudeep Banerjee said early detection and timely treatment are important in managing liver, pancreatic and gastrointestinal diseases, adding that many such conditions are often detected at an advanced stage.
Peerless Hospital Guwahati said the clinic is part of its effort to strengthen super-speciality healthcare services in the region. Government health schemes will also be applicable for eligible patients at the facility.
