Guwahati: The North East Liver Foundation Society successfully organized “The 4th North East Medicon, 2024” at Hotel Ratnamouli Palace, Guwahati.
The event, held on Saturday, witnessed the participation of approximately 200 practicing doctors, medical professionals from various parts of the country, and eminent experts in Hepatology, Pancreatology, and Interventional Radiology. The program commenced at 6:30 pm with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, Sarangapani Sarmah, Additional Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam. The event was also graced by Guest of Honours Jharna Patgiri, ACS; Dr. Bikash Narayan Choudhury, HOD, Department of Gastroenterology, GMCH; Dr. Piyush Ranjan, Senior Gastroenterologist and Vice Chairman, Department of Gastroenterology, Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi; and Dr. Ushasht Dhir, Vice Chairman, Institute of Surgical Gastroenterology, GI and HPB Oncosurgery and Liver Transplantation, Sir Gangaram Hospital, New Delhi.
Dr. Bhabani P. Chakravarty, a senior consultant in internal medicine and rheumatology, was honored with the Life Time Achievement Award for his service to humanity in the fields of medical science and education. Prominent medical professionals, including Dr. Gaurav Chayan Das, Dr. K. Somasekhar Rao, Dr. Rupjyoti Talukdar, and Dr. Naresh Bansal, delivered deliberations on various scientific topics, enriching the knowledge of attendees. Between the scientific sessions, attendees enjoyed displays of traditional Assamese jewelry by renowned designer Waheeda Rehman and traditional Muga textile of Assam by Jugal Bharali, representing the brand Marvella.
