MoS Pabitra Margherita Holds Key Meetings on Day 2 of Bharat Tex 2026

New Delhi: Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles Pabitra Margherita participated in a series of international and industry engagements on the second day of Bharat Tex 2026, being held from July 14 to 17 at Bharat Mandapam.

One of the world’s largest integrated textile events, Bharat Tex 2026 has attracted more than 7,000 international buyers from over 110 countries and over 1.3 lakh business visitors.

The Minister chaired a knowledge session on “India’s FTA Moment: Gateway for Textile Value Chains, Market Access and Sourcing Decisions,” where discussions focused on India’s Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) and their role in boosting textile exports and expanding global market access.

He also chaired another session titled “India-UK FTA in Action: Shaping the Future of Textile Trade and Investment,” highlighting opportunities for trade, investment and supply chain development under the India-UK Free Trade Agreement.

During the event, Shri Margherita met Maria Bystedt to discuss cooperation on sustainability and innovation in the textile sector.

The Minister also attended the CITI Textile Sustainability Awards 2026, where he reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to sustainable manufacturing and responsible production.

Later, he held discussions with Eric Trachtenberg on sustainable cotton production, innovation and international cooperation.

Shri Margherita also visited various exhibition pavilions, including the National Jute Board, Central Silk Board, Ashtalakshmi Pavilion and the Assam Pavilion, where he interacted with exhibitors and reviewed products and innovations on display.

The Minister’s engagements focused on strengthening global partnerships, expanding export opportunities and promoting sustainability and innovation in India’s textile sector.
