Guwahati: The Noonmati Police have intensified the investigation into the tragic road accident that occurred in Mathghoria, Guwahati, which claimed the lives of three young women. In connection with this sensational case, police have been conducting visits to multiple locations in both Guwahati and Shillong along with the main accused driver, Shamim Ahmed, to gather crucial evidence. Several CCTV footages and newly surfaced details have now helped reconstruct the sequence of events following the accident.

On Friday morning, police took the accused back to the accident site for a reconstruction exercise to collect further evidence. According to investigating sources, immediately after the accident, Samim Ahmed attempted to conceal his involvement. CCTV footage shows that he changed his blood-stained clothes and discarded them in a nearby drain. He then wore fresh clothes and booked a cab to flee the scene.

Police have already recovered the blood-stained clothes, although another shirt reportedly discarded along the Barapani road is yet to be traced. Following the incident, Samim fled Guwahati and took refuge in Shillong. During his stay there, he allegedly tried to alter his identity by cutting his hair and beard at a local salon. A special police team has since taken the accused to Shillong and conducted inspections at the locations where he had hidden.

In another key development, investigators have found that Samim Ahmed had used someone else’s driving licence while taking the vehicle on rent. The licence reportedly belonged to a person from Noida, suggesting that he tried to conceal his identity. However, sustained investigation and evidence have clearly established that Samim himself was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Sources indicate that it is still unclear whether the accused received assistance in planning his escape or acted on his own. Police are probing all possible angles. The ownership of the vehicle and the chain through which it was rented are also under scrutiny. It is learned that the car was initially rented through an agency and eventually came into Samim’s possession through multiple hands.
