Chirang: A 60-year-old man was arrested in Assam’s Chirang district after he beheaded his wife during a fight at their home. The shocking incident happened in front of their two daughters.
The man, Britesh Hajong, killed his 50-year-old wife, Baijayanti Hajong, on Saturday evening in North Ballamguri area of Bijni. After the murder, he walked to the Ballamguri Police patrolling point carrying his wife’s head.
Police arrested him and took him into custody. They are now questioning him. Officers said they are still trying to find out why he did it.
Police have sent the body for postmortem. They said they will soon record the statements of the two daughters who saw the incident.
Family members said to media that Britesh often tortured his wife. They had been arguing for the last few days.
Police are now investigating the case and checking if there was a history of abuse in the family.
