Guwahati: After the success of his award-winning short film To-Let, journalist and filmmaker Hemanta Sarma is back with his latest project titled Omnipresent – A Story. The new short film, produced under the banner of Focus Media, explores a socially relevant theme through a unique and symbolic lens.
Written, scripted, and directed by Sarma himself, the film tells its story from the point of view of a plastic bag. Describing it as “omnipresent,” the plastic bag travels across different parts of a metropolitan city and silently witnesses human carelessness, lack of discipline, and disregard for the environment. Through this journey, the film highlights the long-lasting harm caused by plastic waste and reflects on the broader environmental and social issues it represents.
The film features cinematography by Gyan Gautam, assisted by Sirajul Ali. Manas Kashyap is in charge of editing, while lighting and set design were handled by Sankar Dutta. The cast includes Dhruba Prasad Bora, Niharika Nath, Pranavi Mohanta, Dheeraj Das, and Garima Das, among others.
Currently in post-production, Omnipresent – A Story is expected to complete the censor process within this month. The filmmaker plans to send it to various national and international film festivals.
