Guwahati: The All Assam JJM Contractors’ Forum (AAJJMCF) has donated ₹5 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support people affected by the recent floods in Upper Assam.
Forum President Simanta Jyoti Boruah, accompanied by In-charge General Secretary Abhijit Baruah and Treasurer Kanishka Hazarika, handed over the donation cheque to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on September 24.
During the meeting, the delegation also discussed the long-pending issues faced by contractors working under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM). The forum submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister highlighting the issues.
The Chief Minister assured the representatives that their concerns would be addressed at the earliest, according to the forum.
He also informed the delegation that outstanding payments for completed Retrofitting and Revised-Retrofitting works would be met and released through World Bank loan funds.
The Chief Minister further informed the representatives that the state government would make additional budgetary provisions for MVS payments in the next phase.
The contractors’ delegation said the assurances given during the meeting had provided them with considerable reassurance and expressed hope that their pending issues would be resolved soon.
