Guwahati: The Veterinary Branch of Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), along with the Enforcement Branch, Food Safety Officer, and Assam Police, conducted an inspection drive on poultry, fish, and mutton shops in various areas, including Bamunimaidan Railway Colony Bazar, New Guwahati, Noonmati, Gopalnagar Noonmati, Forest Gate, and Narengi.
During the inspection, authorities checked 27 meat and fish shops for compliance with hygiene and safety regulations. One mutton shop was sealed, and a penalty of ₹22,000 was imposed for violations. The drive aimed to ensure food safety standards and maintain cleanliness in meat and fish markets across the city.
