Guwahati: Assam Health Minister Ashok Singhal visited the National Health Mission (NHM) office for the first time since taking charge and reviewed key health programs. He focused on improving healthcare services, strengthening NHM initiatives, and tackling public health challenges in the state.
During the meeting, he assessed various programs, including maternal and child health, immunization, family planning, nutrition, and disease control. He directed officials to integrate child and adolescent health programs under a single framework for better monitoring.
To ensure transparency, he instructed the Health & Family Welfare Department to publish an annual report in April, highlighting key data and achievements. He also asked NHM to create a media strategy to increase public awareness of its initiatives.
The meeting was attended by senior officials, including Commissioner & Secretary Dr. P. Ashok Babu and NHM Mission Director Dr. Laxmanan S. The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing quality healthcare and called for strong coordination between departments to achieve these goals.
