Guwahati: Ahead of the second ODI between India and West Indies at the Assam Cricket Association Stadium in Barsapara on September 30, the Guwahati traffic police have announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversions to ensure the smooth movement of vehicles and emergency services.
The restrictions will be in force on September 30, with special arrangements made to protect pedestrians, students, senior citizens and other vulnerable road users and to ensure the movement of ambulances, fire tenders and school buses.
Restrictions on Goods and Slow-Moving Vehicles
The movement of all types of commercial goods-carrying vehicles and slow-moving vehicles will be restricted from 10 am until the end of the match on several major roads, including G.S. Road, B.K. Kakati Road, A.K. Azad Road, A.K. Dev Road, Kula Basumatary Road, Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, Mora-Bharalu Path, F.A. Road, Dhopoliya Road, Bishnupur Road, M.G. Road, A.T. Road, R.K.C. Road, Birubari G.M.C. Road and Kahilipara Road.
From 12 noon, vehicles without car passes travelling from Lokhra Chariali towards Arya Nagar will be diverted at Lalganesh Tiniali towards Hayat Hospital and Kahilipara Road. Vehicles travelling from Arya Nagar towards Lalganesh will be diverted at Cycle Factory through F.A. Road towards A.K. Dev Road.
Vehicle Entry and Drop-Off Arrangements
Vehicles with Drop-Off Passes will be allowed to drop passengers at either Barsapara Tiniali or Dhirenpara Tiniali before proceeding to designated parking areas.
Kula Basumatary Road, also known as Barsapara Road, will operate as a one-way road from 11 am, with traffic allowed from Barsapara Tiniali towards Dhirenpara Tiniali. Vehicles will not be allowed to travel in the opposite direction.
Only vehicles with valid Car Passes, other than Drop-Off Passes, will be allowed to proceed from Barsapara Tiniali towards the ACA Stadium.
No vehicles will be allowed to ply on Mora-Bharalu Road from either the ACA Stadium side or F.A. Road side.
On Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path, vehicles coming from the NH-27 side will be allowed up to Shyam Mandir, from where they will be diverted towards Ganeshpara Tiniali through Banabasu Road and A.K. Dev Road. Traffic will not be allowed on this road from the ACA Stadium side.
Parking Restrictions
Parking will not be allowed on either side of the road between Barsapara Tiniali and Dhirenpara Tiniali, Cycle Factory and Lalganesh Tiniali, and Ambari Tiniali and Champabati High School.
One-side parallel parking will be permitted from Champabati High School towards Garchuk on A.K. Dev Road and from Dakhingaon Tiniali towards NEF College on Kanaklata Path.
Parking Facilities
The traffic arrangements provide parking facilities for around 1,090 light motor vehicles (LMVs).
Parking areas accessible through A.K. Dev Road include Champabati Field, Ganeshpara Field, Datalpara Field, RCTRC Field at Fatasil Ambari, roadside parking from Champabati Field to Garchuk 5 Tiniali and Jonaki Sports Club field.
Parking areas accessible through A.K. Azad Road include Lutuma Field, Arya Vidyapith College Field, Vishal Marriage Hall near Cycle Factory and Rolling Mill Field.
Stadium Entry Gates
Six entry gates will be operational at the stadium on September 30:
- Gate 1A: Teams and PMOA
- Gate 1B: Car Pass holders and commentators
- Gate 2: Entry through Barsapara Tiniali
- Gate 3: Entry via R.G. Baruah Path through Barsapara Tiniali
- Gate 4: Entry via Rolling Mill Road from Lalganesh Tiniali/Rolling Mill Tiniali
- Gates 5 and 6: Entry via Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Path from the ISBT side
VIP Car Pass holders entering through Gate 1B will not be allowed to take their vehicles out of the stadium until the match is over. After the match, vehicles parked inside the stadium can proceed towards either Dhirenpara Tiniali or Barsapara Tiniali.
From Barsapara Tiniali, vehicles can proceed towards Birubari or Lalganesh, while vehicles exiting through Dhirenpara Tiniali can proceed towards Garchuk or Fatasil Ambari.
The traffic restrictions, according to the authorities, will not affect the movement of ambulances, fire tenders, life-saving medicines, vehicles carrying oxygen cylinders, school buses and local residents.
