Guwahati: In a tragic turn of events, Utpal Deka, a youth journalist from Guwahati, passed away due to multiple organ failures. Deka, who worked for a prominent news portal, fell ill after being bitten by an unidentified insect during a tour a few days before his death.
Following the insect attack, Deka developed a high fever and experienced severe physical weakness. Despite receiving urgent medical treatment at Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati, his condition deteriorated rapidly. Both of his kidneys, along with several other vital organs, failed, leading to his untimely demise.
Deka’s passing is a significant loss to the journalism community, where he was admired for his dedication and professionalism. His death has left a void that will be deeply felt by his colleagues and the wider media fraternity.
