Guwahati: In a joint operation conducted by the Crime Branch team and Dispur Police station, a search at Purvanchal Path, led to the recovery of 24 soap boxes containing approximately 280 grams of suspected psychotropic substances (heroin). Three individuals from Manipur, namely James Hingba, Nikhil Leimapokpam, and Junaid Ahmed, were apprehended in connection with the case.
In another operation, the Crime Branch, along with the SOG team of West Police district and Garchuk PS Staff, apprehended Abdul Alim of Ramdia, Hajo. During the search, 20 packets of soap cases containing heroin and cash amounting to Rs. 22,400 were recovered. Two women involved in handing over the heroin packets were apprehended at Basistha.
The arrested individuals include N Kaine, Sara, and Abdul Alim. Further efforts are underway to apprehend other associates involved in the drug trade.
