Guwahati: Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport has been included in the World’s Most Beautiful Airports List 2026 by the prestigious Prix Versailles, bringing international recognition to Assam’s aviation infrastructure.
The airport’s Terminal 2, developed by Adani Airport Holdings Limited, was selected for its architecture, sustainability features and passenger-friendly design. The list also includes Navi Mumbai International Airport along with airports in China, Germany, Cambodia and the United States.
According to Prix Versailles, Guwahati Airport’s Terminal 2 draws inspiration from the Bamboo Orchid and reflects the biodiversity and indigenous heritage of Northeast India. The terminal’s design combines sustainability with modern functionality while showcasing the region’s cultural identity.
Navi Mumbai International Airport’s Terminal 1 was recognised for its lotus-inspired architecture, advanced design and integration of technology, art and functionality.
A spokesperson of Adani Airport Holdings Limited said the recognition reflects the company’s commitment to developing world-class airport infrastructure that combines architectural excellence, sustainability and operational efficiency.
Prix Versailles is an international architecture and design award presented annually at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. The awards recognise outstanding airports and terminals that demonstrate innovation, cultural identity and sustainable development.
The inclusion of Guwahati Airport in the 2026 list is being seen as a significant achievement for Assam and Northeast India, further strengthening the region’s position on the global aviation map.
