Guwahati: Guwahati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) celebrated a significant milestone as a premature baby born on October 9, 2024, at just 26 weeks gestation and weighing only 726 grams, was successfully discharged from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) after reaching a healthy weight of 1530 grams.

The baby, born via IVF at GMCH, demonstrated remarkable resilience and progress under the dedicated care of the hospital’s NICU team.

Dr. Abhijit Sarmah, Superintendent of GMCH, expressed his joy, stating, “We’re thrilled to see the baby thrive and grow. Moments like these make every challenge worthwhile. I am incredibly proud of our team’s dedication to providing exceptional care.”
