Guwahati – Led by the GMC Veterinary Officer, a team comprising veterinary staff, the Enforcement Branch, the District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, and Assam Police conducted an inspection drive across multiple markets in Guwahati. Targeting poultry, fish, and mutton shops in areas including Ganeshguri GMC Market, Kahilipara, Jatia, Narkasur, Odalbakra, Lalganesh, Jyotikuchi, Sawkuchi, and Lokhara Sunday bazar, the team assessed compliance with health and safety standards.
A total of 62 shops were inspected during the operation, resulting in penalties amounting to Rs. 40,000 for violations. The GMC stated that the inspections aim to ensure the quality and safety of meat sold in the city’s markets, emphasizing that similar drives will continue.
