Gauhati University Professor Featured in Prestigious Royal Society of Chemistry Journal

Guwahati: In a remarkable achievement for Gauhati University, Dr. Ranjit Thakuria, Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry, has been featured in the Royal Society of Chemistry’s journal Chemical Communications (ChemComm) under the “Pioneering Investigators Collection 2025: Part 2.”

This global collection recognises 31 leading scientists worldwide for their pioneering work in chemical sciences. Notably, only two researchers from India have been featured this year — one from IISER Kolkata and the other from Gauhati University, Assam.

Congratulating Dr. Thakuria, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta said, “This recognition by the Royal Society of Chemistry brings immense pride to Gauhati University and to Assam. Dr. Thakuria’s achievement reflects our commitment to advancing scientific research and innovation.”

Expressing his gratitude, Dr. Thakuria said, “It is an honour to be featured among global pioneering investigators. This recognition inspires our group to pursue research that addresses real-world challenges through molecular design and innovation.”

Dr. Thakuria’s featured article, “Synthesis and characterization of urea•2,4-dihydroxybenzoic acid cocrystal as a sustained release fertilizer”, was selected as the Inside Back Cover of the issue. His profile also appears on the Pioneering Investigators Collection 2025 page of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
