Guwahati: The Department of Commerce, Gauhati University, organized an interaction programme at Kaleswar Devalaya on the university campus to discuss its potential as a tourist destination. The historic temple, known for its rich legacy and fascinating legends, was the focus of discussions aimed at preserving its heritage while promoting tourism.

The event was hosted by Dr. Suparna Ghosh and inaugurated by chief guest Prof. Rajib Handique, Head of the History Department. Esteemed speakers, including Dr. Amrit Pal Singh, Dr. Tilak Ch. Das, Dr. Gour Gopal Banik, and Dr. Santosh Kumar Mahapatra, shared insights on eco-tourism, heritage preservation, and creating a spiritual hub.

Prof. Prashanta Sharma, Head of the Commerce Department and chairman of the session, emphasized the importance of balancing tourism development with biodiversity conservation. Dr. Mahapatra suggested creating a website to reach a wider audience, while Prof. Handique and Dr. Das proposed transforming the temple into an eco-tourism zone.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Angana Bora, marking a promising start toward the temple’s future as a sustainable tourist attraction.
