Guwahati: Former Education Minister of Assam, Thaneswar Boro, passed away at the age of 85 on Friday morning. He died of cardiac arrest at around 7:08 AM while receiving treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Guwahati.
Boro had been in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of GMCH, dealing with a long-standing heart condition. Despite the efforts of doctors, he could not be saved.Boro is survived by his only daughter.
He was a notable figure in Assam’s political scene, serving as Education Minister and making significant contributions to the state’s education system during his time in office with the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) government.
His body will be taken from Guwahati to Rangia. Several ceremonies are planned to honor his memory and service to Assam.
