Guwahati: In a significant political development, expelled Youth Congress leader Angkita Dutta, former Assam Minister Bismita Gogoi, and former All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) president Dipanka Nath, along with others, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The joining ceremony took place at the BJP Headquarters in Guwahati’s Basistha, with the presence of BJP state president Bhabesh Kalita, Assam Ministers Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Mallabaruah, BJP MLA Diganta Kalita, and other party members.

Confirming their decision to join BJP, Bismita Gogoi expressed dissatisfaction with the current Congress leadership and praised Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for transforming the overall environment in the state. Bismita Gogoi mentioned that she believes the Congress won’t come to power even in the next 100 years.

Dipanka Nath, in his statement, acknowledged that many issues raised by AASU have been addressed by the Chief Minister, specifically pointing out the constitutional safeguard provided through the delimitation exercise for the people of Assam.
