ESM Re-Union Rally Held in Chhaygaon to Address Welfare Issues

Chhaygaon: The Ex-Servicemen (ESM) Association, Chhaygaon, organized a re-union rally on March 9 at Pargana Mandir to address pension, banking, and documentation issues. The event saw participation from 50 ex-servicemen, 40 widows, and 218 dependents.

The rally was presided over by Ex-Sgt Prabhat Chandra Kalita, President of the ESM Association, Chhaygaon. Staff from the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), attended to assist veterans. Wg Cdr S. R. Hazarika (Retd.), Assistant Director of the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Assam, was the chief guest, along with senior retired officers and civil dignitaries.

Ex-Hav Suresh Chandra Medhi, Secretary of the ESM Association, welcomed guests and attendees, marking the beginning of the event. Ex-Hav Troilokya Kr Kakati from the Zila Sainik Welfare Office, Kamrup (M), addressed key issues, including:

  • Rehabilitation and welfare schemes for ex-servicemen
  • Pension-related grievances under SPARSH
  • ECHS-related concerns
  • Reservation policies in government jobs and education
  • Assam Governor’s “Rashtriya Kritagyata Evam Jagrookta Yojana” for ex-servicemen

Wg Cdr Hazarika (Retd.) commended the ESM Association and acknowledged the sacrifices of veterans and their families. He assured prompt resolution of their issues and emphasized the Rajya Sainik Board’s commitment to their welfare.

The rally concluded with the felicitation of Veer Naris, orphans, disabled dependents, and distinguished veterans in recognition of their service to the nation.
