Dilip Saikia Says BJP Will Continue Its Fight Against ‘Miya Agenda’ to Protect Assam’s Identity
Haflong: Assam BJP President and Darrang–Mangaldoi MP Dilip Saikia on Sunday reiterated that the Bharatiya Janata Party will continue its fight against the “Miya agenda” to safeguard Assam’s culture and identity. Speaking at a party meeting in Haflong, Saikia said the BJP’s stand is firm and rooted in the “protection of Assamese civilisation”.
Saikia alleged that the Miya section challenges Assam’s cultural fabric, encroaches upon spiritual, religious and historical sites, and attempts to bring them under their influence. He also claimed that rapid population expansion by this group has created “serious threats” for the indigenous people of the state.
Accusing the Congress and its allies of empowering these forces, Saikia said,
“We have always been against the Miya agenda and we will continue to oppose it in the future as well. Just as Lachit Borphukan defeated the Mughals 17 times, BJP will fight till the last drop — not for politics, but to protect Assam’s civilisation.”
Questions Congress’ Role for Tribal Communities
During his ongoing two-day organisational visit to Dima Hasao district, the state BJP chief questioned what the Congress has contributed for the welfare of tribal communities. He interacted with local BJP workers and reviewed organisational activities and election preparedness in the district ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Saikia also held meetings with party leaders at the district level and took stock of the ground situation as part of BJP’s pre-election strategy.
