Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival Begins in Guwahati

Guwahati: The 9th Brahmaputra Valley Film Festival (BVFF) kicked off at Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio in Guwahati, bringing together cinephiles, filmmakers, and Indian film industry icons for a four-day celebration of cinema.

Festival Director Tanushree Hazarika highlighted BVFF’s role in showcasing diverse stories and fostering meaningful dialogue in the world of filmmaking. This year’s festival features 30 films, including 13 feature films, 5 documentaries, and 12 short films. It also offers masterclasses and industry sessions to inspire budding filmmakers.

The festival premiered Sardar Udham, directed by Shoojit Sircar and starring Vicky Kaushal, marking its long-awaited theatrical release. Other major screenings include Village Rockstars 2 by Rima Das and All We Imagine as Light by Payal Kapadia, a Cannes award-winning film.

The opening film, Bibo Binanao (My Three Sisters) by Kenny Deori Basumatary, captivated audiences with its moving portrayal of resilience and hope in the Boro language.

Renowned personalities like Navdeep Singh, Ronnie Lahiri, and actor Kopil Bora graced the event, alongside cultural performances by singer Abhishruti Bezbaruah.

With upcoming premieres, documentaries, and sessions led by industry stalwarts like Tigmanshu Dhulia, Rajeev Masand, and Aishwarya Lekshmi, BVFF continues to shine as a platform for celebrating cinema and nurturing future storytellers.
