Tinsukia: A serious case of police torture has come to light in Bordumsa town of Assam. A young man named Sanjeev Moran from Mohong village was badly beaten while in police custody. He was called to the police station on Saturday by police officers .
At the station, the police officers allegedly tortured him using hot chili paste. This happened after a fight between Moran and the police during Panchayat election voting. Moran is now in a hospital, and his condition is said to be serious.
The incident has made people very angry. On Sunday, many locals protested outside the Bordumsa Police Station, demanding action against the officers.
On May 4, Assam Police posted on X (formerly Twitter) that the officers involved have been suspended. The Officer-in-Charge has also been removed from duty. A full enquiry has been ordered and must be completed within 48 hours by the Superintendent of Police, Tinsukia.
