Guwahati: Ahead of Martyr Kanaklata Barua Memorial Day on September 20, AM Television is set to release its latest Assamese film Swahid Pronamo Tomak on September 19. The film is a tribute to India’s freedom struggle and honours Kanaklata Barua, the first Assamese female martyr.

Addressing a press conference at Guwahati Press Club, producer Loknath Deka said AM Television has consistently produced Assamese films that celebrate the state’s culture and heritage. “With Swahid Pronamo Tomak, we aim to portray the patriotism and sacrifice of 17-year-old Kanklata Barua and inspire today’s generation,” he added.

Directed by national award-winning filmmaker Chandra Mudoi, the film follows the journey of a young revolutionary girl whose ideals change after witnessing Kanklata’s bravery, underscoring that true freedom and peace cannot come through violence alone.

The film marks the final on-screen appearance of legendary actor Nipon Goswami. It also stars Urmila Mahanta, Debashish Barthakur, and several other noted Assamese actors. Music for the film has been composed by Dr. Hitesh Barua, Ajay Phukan, and Tapan Kakati, with lyrics by Chandra Mudoi.

Shot across scenic locations in Assam by cinematographer Nab Kumar Das, the film promises a powerful mix of patriotism, drama, and emotion.
