Guwahati: Assam claimed a thrilling two-wicket victory over Pondicherry in the final match of the COL C K NAYUDU TROPHY (Plate Group) 2024-25, held at ACA Stadium, Guwahati, on November 26, 2024.

After winning the toss, Pondicherry opted to bat first, scoring 170/10 in 51.1 overs, with Akash Pugazhanthi contributing 55 runs off 49 balls. Assam responded with a strong first-innings performance, posting 186/10 in 73 overs, led by Jay Borah’s gritty 72 off 195 balls. Pondicherry’s Arshil Rajendra shone with the ball, taking 5 wickets for 42 runs.

In the second innings, Pondicherry set a challenging target by scoring 248/10 in 83.2 overs, powered by Nitin Pranaav V’s 73 off 127 balls and an unbeaten 62 off 78 balls by R Jashwanth Shreeram. Assam’s bowler Dipjyoti Saikia was exceptional, taking 6 wickets for 66 runs.

Assam chased down the target with determination, scoring 235/8 in 79.2 overs. Contributions from Rituraj Biswas (44 off 102 balls), Bishal Roy (37 off 61 balls), and Ronit Akhter (27 off 42 balls) sealed the victory.
