Guwahati: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has completed the House-to-House (H2H) verification under the Special Revision of Electoral Roll 2026 in Assam. The verification was carried out from November 22 to December 20, 2025, to ensure an accurate and transparent voter list before the 2026 Assembly elections.
According to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Assam, 100 percent voter verification has been achieved during this phase.
Key Findings:
- Total electors: 2,52,02,775
- Electors excluding ‘D’ voters: 2,51,09,754
- Electors verified: 2,51,09,754 (100% coverage)
- Households visited: 61,03,103 across the state
During the verification:
- 4,78,992 deceased voters were identified for deletion
- 5,23,680 voters were found to have shifted from their registered address
- 53,619 duplicate or similar entries were identified for correction
Gender-wise Voter Data:
- Male voters: 1,25,72,583
- Female voters: 1,26,28,662
- Others: 379
Large Administrative Exercise:
The process involved:
- 35 District Election Officers
- 126 Electoral Registration Officers and 1,260 AEROs
- Over 29,656 Booth Level Officers
- 2,578 BLO Supervisors
- 61,533 Booth Level Agents from political parties
Polling Station Rationalisation:
After approval from the Election Commission, Assam now has 31,486 polling stations, which is reflected in the draft electoral roll.

- Claims and objections period: December 27, 2025 to January 22, 2026
- Special campaign dates: January 3–4 and January 10–11, 2026
- Final electoral roll publication: February 10, 2026
Citizens can submit applications using:
- Form 6 – New voter registration
- Form 7 – Objection or deletion
- Form 8 – Correction or address change
The Election Commission has appealed to all eligible citizens to check their details and participate actively to ensure a clean and correct voter list.
