Guwahati: Assam’s Dr. Sangita Kakati and her daughter, Anoushka Baruah, have made their state proud by singing the theme song for the first-ever Kho-Kho World Cup. The tournament will take place at the IGI Stadium in New Delhi from January 13 to 19, 2025.
The song, titled ‘Kho-Kho World Cup: Indigenous Game of India’, is written, composed, and arranged by Dr. Kakati. Released on social media as part of the tournament’s promotion, the song has received a lot of praise. It will play throughout the tournament, from the opening ceremony to the closing event.
The Kho-Kho World Cup, organized by the Kho-Kho Federation of India (KKFI) and the Indian Olympic Association, will feature 40 teams from 24 countries. The event aims to make Kho-Kho a global sport and push for its inclusion in the 2036 Olympics.
