Assam Don Bosco University Hosts AIORI-2 Workshop to Boost Internet Research in North East
Guwahati: The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Assam Don Bosco University (ADBU) hosted the “AIORI-2 Train the Trainer Workshop Series” on August 1, 2025. The event aimed to boost Internet research and engineering education in India, especially in the North East.
The workshop was part of the Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI) project, led by the India Internet Foundation (IIFON) and the IEEE Industry Academia Young Professionals Committee (IAYPC) – India Council. It was supported by NIXI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
ADBU was selected as the North-East zone host, joining 10 other workshops held across the country. Dr. Manojit Ghosh, Assistant Professor at IIIT Guwahati, played a key role in leading the initiative in the region.
Mr. Alok Choudhury and Dr. Alexy Bhowmick from ADBU’s CSE department coordinated the event, with guidance from Dr. Bobby Sharma, Head of the Department.
The technical sessions were conducted by Mr. Anupam Agrawal, Chair of IIFON, and Mr. Anand Raje, Co-founder and CTO of IIFON. They trained participants on Internet protocols, standards, and the use of IoT devices for Internet measurement.
The workshop saw participation from 22 faculty members representing 10 institutions across the North East. It gave participants hands-on experience and helped build knowledge in Internet engineering and policy research.
The event marked an important step in strengthening digital education and research in the region and highlighted ADBU’s active role in national digital empowerment efforts.
