APCC Forms Seven Teams to Monitor Vote Counting Across Assam

Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has taken early steps to ensure a smooth and fair vote counting process in the state. As part of this move, the party has formed seven special teams to visit different districts of Assam.

The decision was taken after discussions between AICC General Secretary and Assam in-charge Jitendra Singh and APCC President Gaurav Gogoi. The teams will start their visits from April 25.

According to the plan, these teams will inspect strong rooms where EVMs are kept, meet party candidates, and hold discussions with district administration officials to avoid any irregularities during counting.

In Upper Assam, the team includes Debabrata Saikia, Raju Sahu, Utpal Gogoi, Rajkumar Nilanetra Neog, David Phukan, and Mrityunjay Duwarah. They will visit Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Charaideo, Jorhat, and Golaghat districts.

For North Bank districts, the team comprises Ripun Bora, Ghana Burhagohain, J.P. Das, Shailen Sonowal, Kartik Kurmi, Shankar Kutum, Meghanath Chettri, and Bipul Bora.

In Central Assam and hill regions, members include Shivamani Bora, Diganta Barman, Satyabrata Kalita, Mira Borthakur Goswami, Swapan Kar, Mrinal Hazarika, Akram Hussain, Nirmal Langthasa, Ratan Engti, Augustine Enghi, Ashok Teron, Pallav Chetia, and Charlanki Engti. They will cover Hojai, Nagaon, Morigaon, Kamrup, Kamrup Metropolitan, Nalbari, Karbi Anglong, West Karbi Anglong, and Dima Hasao.

For Lower Assam, the team includes Rokibul Hussain, Pradip Sarkar, A.K. Rashid Alam, Deep Bayan, Gajendra Upamanyu, Arun Tiwari, and Mustafa Khaddam Hussain. They will visit Barpeta, Bongaigaon, South Salmara-Mankachar, Dhubri, Goalpara, and Bajali.

In Barak Valley, responsibilities have been given to Ajit Singh, Abhijit Paul, Aminul Islam, Biswajit Ghosh, Badrul Borbhuyan, Papon Dev, Pradip Gowala, and Hussain Ahmed Choudhury.

For the BTAD region, the team includes Mehedi Alam Bora, Buddhadev Phandanggari, Chohen Brahma, Bhabanath Nath, Stephen Lakra, Umesh Deka, Dipak Kalita, and Satya Nath Kalita.

APCC said the move aims to maintain transparency and ensure that the counting process is conducted properly across all districts.

The information was shared in an official statement by APCC General Secretary (Organisation) Ramanna Baruah.
