Nagaon: Nagaon police arrested AIUDF MLA Aminul Islam on Thursday for making a controversial statement about the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 people on April 22.
Islam had claimed that the attack, along with other incidents in Kashmir, was part of a planned conspiracy by the government. His comments went viral on social media and sparked anger among the public and officials.
According to police, Islam’s statement was misleading and could have created tension. A case (Nagaon PS Case 347/25) was registered against him under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The MLA from Dhing has faced criticism for his remarks, with many calling them irresponsible and dangerous.
