Guwahati: Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) President and Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora on Sunday said the NDA is fully prepared and confident of a strong performance in the upcoming panchayat elections. He made the statement while addressing a press meet at the party’s headquarters in Ambari, Guwahati, ahead of Rongali Bihu.
Bora also extended his greetings to the people of Assam on the occasion of Rongali Bihu. He said Bihu is a festival that brings people from different religions and communities together and reflects the spirit of unity.
Talking about the upcoming panchayat elections, Bora informed that the nomination process is over and the last date for withdrawal is April 17. He confirmed that the AGP is contesting the elections in alliance with the BJP as part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).“We are fully prepared. Our workers are active. We are confident of a good result in the elections,” he said.
Bora strongly criticized the Congress party. He said, “There is no Congress now. Their position is very weak. They are divided and have lost the trust of the people. The public now wants development and progress. In the last 21 years, no other government has worked as much in rural areas as we have.”
Bora also praised Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma for his leadership. He said, “Dr. Sarma has worked hard for the people of Assam. The public is with us. We have assigned responsibilities to our Central and District Committees, and we are reaching out to the voters.” He added that the AGP is active in all parts of the state where the NDA is present. “We believe the people will support us, and we will perform well,” he said.
