Guwahati: The trailer of the upcoming Assamese commercial film Agnibaan, scheduled for release on February 6, has sparked strong nostalgia among audiences, recalling a golden phase of Assamese cinema dominated by actor Jatin Bora, singer Zubeen Garg, and filmmaker Munin Barua.

That era, which once took Assamese commercial cinema to new heights, appears to echo once again through Agnibaan. The trailer evokes memories of the time when powerful screen presence, emotionally charged music and strong storytelling defined mainstream Assamese films.

The most striking highlight of the trailer is Jatin Bora, who returns with the same commanding screen presence that once defined an era. Age and experience seem to have added depth to his performance rather than diminishing it. When Zubeen Garg’s voice blends with Bora’s expressions, it creates a strong emotional connection, emerging as the film’s core commercial strength.

Despite ongoing social media criticism and debates, the trailer clearly shows that Jatin Bora’s screen awareness, composure and authority remain intact. Assamese audiences have traditionally valued performance stability and character strength over age or appearance, qualities that are evident in Agnibaan.

Another notable presence is Kulada Kumar Bhattacharya, whose serious and dignified performances in theatre and cinema have earned wide respect. His appearance in a commercial format adds credibility and depth to the film.

The film also attempts to connect with younger audiences. Actor Kamal Lochan stands out with his intensity and expressive performance, while Ravi Sharma’s presence lends contemporary relevance. Familiarity with their earlier roles adds to the curiosity surrounding the film.

While the final judgment on direction and screenplay can only be made after the film’s release, the trailer appears technically more refined than many recent Assamese films. Even on smaller screens, the visuals suggest a well-crafted cinematic experience designed for theatres.

Produced by Sailen Kumar Sharma and Mayurakshee Sharma under the banner of Maniratna Entertainment, Agnibaan promises a technically advanced and emotionally resonant offering.

Overall, the trailer indicates a sincere effort to strengthen the commercial direction of Assamese cinema by blending nostalgia, contemporary elements and technical finesse. If the film sustains this balance, Agnibaan could mark an important chapter in the evolving commercial journey of Assamese cinema.
