Guwahati: An excise raid conducted by the Jalukbari Excise team on Monday morning led to the seizure and destruction of 215 litres of illegal liquor. The operation, which began at 8 a.m., was carried out in Pandu Bazar, Maligaon Friday Market, and Athgaon under the supervision of the Inspector of Excise, Jalukbari.
According to officials, 120 litres were seized from Pandu Bazar, 85 litres from Athgaon, and 10 litres from the Friday Market in Maligaon. All seized liquor was destroyed on the spot in the presence of witnesses.
The enforcement drive is part of the department’s ongoing efforts to curb the sale of illicit liquor in the Kamrup (Metro) district.
