Guwahati: The Professor Sarat Mahanta Foundation, in collaboration with The Assam Royal Global University, will organise the 11th Professor Sarat Mahanta Memorial Lecture on May 1 to mark the birth anniversary of noted educationist and social worker Professor Sarat Mahanta.
Professor Mahanta was born on May 1, 1937, at Sri Sri Chaliha Bareghar Satra in Nazira, Sivasagar district. He dedicated his life to education and social service and served as the Head of the History Department at Sivasagar College, now Sivasagar University, for over 33 years, guiding generations of students.
This year’s memorial lecture will be delivered by C Raj Kumar, founding Vice-Chancellor of OP Jindal Global University. He will speak on the topic “India @100: Shaping a Future through Education, Justice and Technology.”
The programme will be inaugurated by Lakshman Prasad Acharya, while Michael D Wilson will deliver special remarks.
The annual lecture is organised to honour the legacy and contributions of Professor Sarat Mahanta in education and society.
