Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Youth Congress on Wednesday staged a symbolic protest in front of the office of the Assam Election Commission, alleging large-scale irregularities in the state’s electoral rolls.

Youth Congress leaders claimed that in some cases, as many as 275 voters had been shown as residents of a single 10×10 room, raising serious doubts about the credibility of the voter lists. “If the Commission cannot answer how this is possible, its silence only raises deeper questions,” one protester said.

Assam Pradesh Youth Congress Committee President Zubair Anam questioned the Commission, asking, “What is the miraculous trick that allows 275 people to live in a 10×10 room? We also want to know how thousands of names are being added to the rolls of a single polling station.”

The protest saw the participation of Vice-President Rakesh Chakravorty, Organizational General Secretary Dr. Neelkamal Bhuyan, Assam State NSUI President Kaushik Kashyap Kalita, and several state, district, and block-level Youth Congress leaders.
