Guwahati: Senior BJP leader Aparajita Bhuyan has said women have become one of the strongest pillars of the BJP’s organisation in Assam, though their representation in decision-making roles still needs to increase.
Bhuyan, a state vice-president of the BJP, said women now play an active role in the party, from booth-level work to campaign planning, helping build a strong grassroots base. She said women workers are often the first point of contact for families on issues related to health, education and welfare schemes.
She added that while women shoulder major responsibilities during elections, their presence in legislatures and key bodies must grow further. Stressing women’s overall development, Bhuyan highlighted the need for education, skill development and safety.
She also said the Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyaan has encouraged women across Assam and praised Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia for supporting women’s empowerment within the party.
