Guwahati: Police have arrested two persons in connection with the dacoity case reported from Ganeshpara under the jurisdiction of Fatasil Ambari Police Station. The arrests were made in the early hours of January 22 from Bhella in Barpeta district in connection with Fatasil Ambari P.S. Case No. 12/26 registered under Section 311 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The arrested accused have been identified as Ratul Malick (37) of Durgapur, Bhella, and Jeherul Hoque (25) of Bonbaria, Bhella, both under Barpeta district. Police said both have criminal antecedents and are suspected to be part of a core gang operating in Guwahati.
During interrogation, based on the voluntary statements of the accused, police recovered one air pistol that had been concealed by them. The weapon has been identified as the one used in the robbery at Ganeshpara.
Police stated that further legal procedures are underway and investigation into the case is continuing.
