Guwahati: The Guwahati Police have registered a suo-moto case following the protest program organized by the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on December 18, 2024, near Raj Bhavan.
The case has been registered at Latasil Police Station under Case No. 130/2024. It includes charges under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023 such as Sections 74, 115(2), 121(1), 189(2), 189(3), 191(2), 195(1), 195(2), and 223(b). Additionally, provisions of Section 94 of the Assam Police Act, 2007 and Section 3(1) of The Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984 have also been invoked.
Guwahati Police Commissioner stated, “Investigation into the matter will proceed as per the provisions of law.”
