SSB Seizes Tiger Skin, Deer Skins in Major Wildlife Operation in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), in a joint operation with the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) and the Forest Department, seized a huge quantity of wildlife articles from Jyoti Path, Bhetapara (Hathigaon) in Kamrup Metro district on Saturday.

Acting on a specific intelligence input, the team conducted a raid and recovered one tiger skin and eight deer skins from the spot. One person was arrested in connection with the seizure.

This operation is linked to earlier seizures by SSB on 15 August 2025 and 7 September 2025, when wildlife articles were recovered, and several culprits were caught. Based on their interrogation and coordinated intelligence gathering, today’s raid was successfully executed.

Sudhir Verma, Inspector General of SSB Frontier Guwahati, congratulated the team for the successful operation. He praised the coordination between agencies and stressed that SSB will continue such operations to curb wildlife crimes in the future.

Authorities said the arrest marks a significant step in dismantling illegal wildlife trade networks in the region.
