Guwahati: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the death of Assamese singer Zubeen Garg has received the viscera report from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), New Delhi, SIT head Munna Prasad Gupta, Special DGP (CID), said in Guwahati on Saturday.

He informed that the report has been sent to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where a committee will study it and prepare the final autopsy report. “Once we receive it, we’ll submit it to the court and share a copy with Garg’s family,” Gupta said.

The viscera was collected during the second autopsy conducted at GMCH before Garg’s cremation on September 23, following the first autopsy in Singapore on September 19.

Responding to claims that Garg was poisoned, Gupta said conclusions can only be made after the final autopsy report.

Meanwhile, seven people, including Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, and bandmate Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, have been arrested in connection with the case.

Gupta added that Singapore authorities are processing India’s request for cooperation under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT). The SIT has also summoned 11 Singapore-based Assamese individuals who were on the yacht with Garg; so far, one has appeared for questioning.
